Distressed Black

Distressed Black

This is our most popular moulding. While having an antique look it seems to suit any style of décor, traditional or modern. The raw wood is first distressed before being painted and finally finished with a black wax. The gold slip is optional but in our opinion it really lifts the map.

Birds Eye Maple

Birds Eye Maple

Birds Eye Maple is one of the scarcest, most beautiful and most expensive veneers. It is unknown what causes the birds eye figuring in the wood that occurs only in 1 in 1000 maple trees. It cannot be ascertained that any particular tree has the birds eye pattern in the wood by visual inspection, it has to be felled. The principle source is North America. The veneer is hand laid in our workshop and is a traditional frame used for maps.

Louro Preto

Louro Preto

Louro Preto comes from the Cordia, Nectandra and Octotea species of tree that grow commonly in Central and South America. Resembling Rosewood it is not well known in Europe and is mainly used in the making of high end furniture rather than in veneering. We hand lay the veneer before sanding and applying shellac and lacquer, finally finishing by polishing with wax.
