A Map of Italy first published by Edward Stanford in 1859, at the time of the Franco-Austrian War. This war was central to Italian unification. Italy's unification began in 1815 with the Congress of Vienna and was mostly complete by 1871, when Rome became the capital city. The Treaty of Versailles in 1919 completed the process.
