THIS IS A REBUBLISHED MAP LAID ONTO CLOTH
Ref: 13RocqueKensington, 1746, John Rocque

A Map of the Environs of Kensington, Brompton, Knightsbridge, Earls Court & Hyde Park circa 1746. Once a traveller from London reached the eastern edge of Hyde Park, the countryside beckoned. Earls Court was just an isolated farm, with its pasture lands providing milk and beef for Londoners. Much of Kensington, Knightsbridge, and Brompton consisted of market gardens and orchards. The Brompton Road was a country lane as was the Kings Road in Chelsea.
