THIS IS A REBUBLISHED PRINT LAID ONTO CLOTH
Ref: Mountains&Rivers, 1823
New & Improved View of the Comparative Heights of the Prinicapl Mountains & Lengths of the Prinicipal Rivers in the World first published circa 1823. Prinicpal mountains of the world are exhibited along with the elevation of major cities, greatest altitude of trees and lakes etc. The figures on the summit of each mountain refer to the table of reference showing the region, country and altitudes which are given in feet above the level of the sea. "In the construction of the Rivers, it is necessary to observe, that our intention has been to effect three grand objects; First, to give to all their true geographical course & figure; secondly their comparative lengths, from their source to their respective destination, and, lastly, their lenghts as would be obtainbed by the sailing of a vessel in the centre of their stream, as correct as the best maps will allow" - as published on the map circa 1823.
