World war one map (1914 - 1918) of the World at War. The exact dates on which each country declared war is stated, separated in to two groups - the Allies and the Enemy. The colours are referenced in the key directly below the map and refer to the year each country was bought in to the war between the years 1914 - 1918.
Published as at the time of this map, c.1920:
Long before hostilities broke out, Hohenzollern ambition had made a great European war seem inevitable. The Hohenzollern made Prussia; Prussia made and dominated modern Germany; and modern Germany was impregnated with Bernhardi's gospel of world-power or downfall. She had accomplished much by commercial penetration, but became impatient. Her navy and army were ready; the Kiel canal was completed; Heligoland was fortified. She chose the Sarajevo murders as a pretext to put her power to the supreme test, and, as our map shows, nearly all the world was drawn in to her struggle.

We make our own frames from moulding hand finished in our workshops. The standard finish is a distressed black with a gold slip inserted for the larger maps.
We finish the moulding in two other colours, Antique Red and Antique Green. These colours can be used on any of our prints or maps, both reproductions and originals, but have been chosen specifically to suit some of the antique prints and illustrations.
Some of the maps are very big so for weight, shipping and safety reasons we use 3mm acrylic as the glazing material.
